Safety Patrol and Crossing Guards
In order to provide a safe environment for our students as they arrive and dismiss from school, we have two crossing guards and a team of 5th grade students as our safety patrol cadets. These two groups exist for one reason: To keep students safe!
We have two crossing guards serving Brass Community School. They are located at the following locations:
65th Street and Sheridan
Morning Times: 8:15 – 8:45 a.m.
Dismissal Times (Mon-Thurs): 3:55-4:25 p.m.
Dismissal Times (Friday): 12:45-1:15 p.m.
65th Street and 17th Avenue
Morning Times: 8:20-8:50 a.m.
Dismissal Times (Mon-Thurs): 3:50-4:20 p.m.
Dismissal Times (Friday): 12:40-1:10 p.m.
Note: Crossing Guards are to be treated like Brass Community School staff members. Failure to follow directions from them will result in school discipline.
Safety Patrol Cadets
Our fifth grade students have the privilege of becoming safety patrol cadets. Officer Friendly teams up with the school supervisor, Mrs. George, to make sure that our cadets are fully trained and placed strategically around the school property so that students can come to school and leave for home in the safest way possible. Students are expected to respect the position of safety patrol cadet and treat them accordingly. If cadets witness a problem, they are to report the issue to their supervisor for further action. At no time is a cadet to order students around or engage with any adults. Any parent witnessing a problem with safety patrol should notify the main office immediately.
Safety Patrol Cadets are placed on or adjacent to school property so they may be supervised directly by school staff.
